ABOUT

Composed of over 40 UC Merced students, we are a student-run organization on track to design and fabricate a formula-style racing vehicle for Formula SAE electric competitions.

While meeting the standards and restrictions set by the Society of Automotive Engineers, our vehicle will be judged on cost efficiency, manufacturability, performance, and design intent.

THE COMPETITION

Redefining the Way
We Race

Formula SAE is an intercollegiate design competition where students across the globe are tasked to design, assemble, test, and race a prototype open-wheel vehicle. Restrictions are placed on the vehicle to promote safety and stress the teams’ ingenuity and resourcefulness. At the competition, the racecars are evaluated by industry experts in two categories: dynamic events and static events. Formula SAE applies both engineering know-how and business acumen–important skills for future engineers to develop.
